Neill Blomkamp confirms District 10 is finally in the works!
It’s been over a decade since District 9 was released and fans have been begging for a sequel ever since. The movie was a roaring success so it’s surprising that we’re only now hearing that a sequel is finally in the works. Better late than never.

The original District 9 followed the story of a bunch of aliens making it to earth, or ‘Prawns' as they're called by the humans. They are treated pretty horrifically and are all kept in these dilapidated shanty-like towns on the outskirts of society. One day an MNU employee gets exposed to alien fuel, which starts to transform him into one of the aliens himself. His only hope is a fellow Prawn named Christopher who hatches a plan to get back to his planet.

At the end of the film, the audience is none the wiser about what actually happened to the main characters. Like did Wikus find a cure? WTF happened?! The sequel should pick up where District 9 left off, with the aliens being moved to a new camp, District 10.

According to director Neill Blomkamp, and writer and actor Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell, we'll finally find out what happened to Wikus and Christoper. Neill announced that the film was in the works on his own Twitter account so at least we know it’s not hearsay. Also, Blomkamp did a Reddit AMA in 2017 and he said that that District 10 would only be made when the time was right - so it looks like that time is now! I’m well amped!
