A 'Friends' reunion special is currently in the works!
It’s been 15 years since Friends went off air and yet people still quote it like it’s a brand new show. In fact it appears to be more popular now than ever thanks to Netflix and a new generation of viewers. I even saw a ‘Central Perk’ Lego set in a toy store last week, not to mention the t-shirts and mugs plastered all over the high street fashion stores.
Fans of the show have been begging for a reunion for years and had just about given up hope when HBO Max suddenly dropped the bombshell that a reunion show is officially in the works. OH. MY. GOD!!! The news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter:
Talks are currently underway for an unscripted reunion special that would feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, as well as series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.
Sources caution that a deal is far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out. When and if deals are completed, the challenge then becomes sorting out everyone’s schedules.
Of course, the talks could fizzle and the whole concept could fall apart.
Not sure if I’m loving the fact that it’s going to be unscripted because I’m pretty sure only half the cast are actually legitimately funny in real life but I’m sure they’ll pull something epic out of the bag. The good news is they’re still using original series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman which is a definite plus. As they’re still ironing things out there’s no further info or shooting dates just yet but just know, I couldn’t BE anymore excited!
