Sacha Baron Cohen is being sued for £74 million for calling US senate a Paedophile
I’m sure by now you've all seen clips from Sacha Baron Cohen's controversial show Who Is America?, where he rips the piss out of moronic American politicians and pro-gun activists. It's a great watch if you've not yet seen it. So far he's got Dick Cheney to autograph a waterboarding kit and pro-gun crusader Dan Roberts to bite a dildo.
It's pretty hilarious stuff, but Sacha might have bitten off more than he could chew after he called former Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore a paedophile after using a paedophile detector on him. Funnily enough, Moore didn't see the funny side and is currently trying to Sue Sacha for £74 million. Here's the clip:
This is what the lawsuit says:
This false and fraudulent portrayal and mocking of Judge Moore as a sex offender, on national and international television, which was widely broadcast in this district on national television and worldwide, has severely harmed Judge Moore’s reputation and caused him, Mrs Moore, and his entire family severe emotional distress, as well as caused and will cause plaintiffs financial damage.
I mean yeah, I'm sure it's pretty horrendous being labelled a nonce on TV but £74 mil?! come off it. No fucker is worth that much. Apparently even the shows production company are named as defendants too. Moore is claiming that although he signed a release before going on the show, it is now void because he signed it under false pretences. Surely a release is a release and there's bugger all he can do?! It's up to him to stop an interview if he's not happy with any part of it but he happily went along with it. I guess we'll just have to see how this all play out.
