THE BERTONE PIRANA: A JAGUAR DRESSED AS A LAMBORGHINI & BUILT BY A NEWSPAPER

Let's try and unpick all of that.

Back when there was money in print media, The Daily Telegraph commissioned the Pirana (their vision of the 'ideal car') as a publicity stunt ahead of the 1967 London Motorshow.  Using the chassis and powertrain from the 4.2 litre E-Type Jaguar, they enlisted Bertone designer Marcello Gandini to re-do the bodywork.  And he went on to design the quite similar-looking Lamborghini Espada not long after.

Jay Leno had a go in it.
