Attendances aren't what they used to be in Italian football. The big clubs had no problem filling their vast arenas back in the golden period of the 80s and 90s, but with the money and glamour having long since relocated to England, they're lucky if they're half full these days.
Which doesn't make for the best of atmospheres. Juventus were the first to move, with the more intimate 41,000 capacity Juventus Stadium, built on the site of the old Stadio delle Alpi, opening in 2011. The likes of Roma, Udinese and Napoli have also been making noises about downsizing.
And now Mllan have released these pictures of a proposed 48,000 seater stadium just down the road from the 80,000 capacity San Siro. The bulk of the £300m funding will come from main sponsor Emirates (Emirates Stadium II then?) and they hope to move in by 2018.
Not sure about the hashtags, but otherwise; real nice.
