Since returning to Madrid in an 18 month loan deal from AC Milan ('officially' their player now after his previous loan from Chelsea was made permanent) Torres has already scored against Real Madrid AND Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. After three and a half miserable years at Stamford Bridge, followed by a not-much-better six months in Italy, early signs suggest he may be able to get back to somewhere near his best.
While we're here, the rest of the top five...
Wilfried Bony, Swansea to Man City
The loss of Alvaro Negredo to Valencia last summer, coupled with a rotten run of injuries, meant that for a few games earlier this season City were forced to play James Milner up front. It was at that point Manuel Pellegrini probably realised reinforcements were needed, and with the Ivory Coast striker scoring 25 goals in 54 Premier League appearances during his time at Swansea, he's strengthened well.
Seydou Doumbia, CSKA Moscow to Roma
Bony's Ivory Coast strike partner was actually linked with a move to the Etihad himself after scoring twice against City in the Champions League group stage earlier this season. But it was Roma who eventually parted with the initial €14.4m transfer fee, bringing him in as a replacement for Mattia Destro. They'll be hoping he can maintain his form from the Russian league, where he scored 65 goals in 91 appearances for CSKA.
Xherdan Shaqiri, Bayern Munich to Inter (loan)
The Switerland winger wasn't playing much at Bayern, but has the ability to cause all sorts of problems for the Italian defences he'll now be facing. For a while in the window there was talk of him maybe joining Stoke, which would have been ace, but he understandably chose Inter and all being well will complete an €11m permanent move in the summer.
André Schürrle, Chelsea to VfL Wolfsburg
You'd have thought Juan Cuadrado might have made the list instead, seeing as Schürrle was let go to make way for him at Chelsea. But then again, whilst the German never really got going during his spell in west London, he was bloody ace for Leverkusen prior to that move. If he can pick up where he left off then Wolfsburg could cause Munich some real problems at the top of the Bundesliga.
I know right, not a single mention of Andy Kellett. It must have been a good one.
