Miss Utah to become first ever bisexual contestant in Miss USA Pageant
The Miss USA pageant has been running for a whopping 68-years and yet throughout that time there has never been one openly gay or bisexual contestant, until now. Woohoo. About bloody time.
Rachel Slawson will represent Utah at the 2020 Miss USA pageant this week and said she is “really grateful” to be competing as the first openly bisexual woman:
For me, winning is being fully yourself. And pageants, for me, are the perfect place to do that because they have such a stereotype of being ‘perfect,’ but what does that even really mean? Who is perfect? And I think, really, perfection is embracing all the things about you that make you different.
I mean yeah, I guess. I just don’t know how liberating it is to strut around in a bikini whilst a bunch of judges rate you out of ten but hey, whatever floats your boat. Rachel also revealed she has set her sights on making history in another competition:
I think that I should be the first bisexual Bachelorette. That’s one of my dreams because I think the LGBTQ community needs to be represented in modern media.
I like the message but she’s a big late to the game. I remember Tila Tequila doing a bisexual dating show in 2007. Anyhoo, good luck, Rachel!
