£5 million worth of Meth mistakenly shipped to elderly couple
An elderly couple from Melbourne, Australia, got the shock of their lives when they discovered someone had accidentally sent them a parcel containing 5 million quids worth of meth.
The couple signed for the parcel and asked each other if they had ordered anything, as you do. If they’re anything like me, it could be any number of eBay, or Amazon prime goodies. After opening the package they discovered bags containing a white substance. Being a couple of honest old folks, they rang the police who confirmed that the substance was 20kg of methamphetamine. The dealer had accidentally shipped it to the wrong address. How stupid can you get?! Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matthew Kershaw says:
It’s quite incredible to comprehend that someone could be that sloppy.
I mean yeah. You’d think of you’re wrapping up £5 million worth of product you’d at least double check the address. Shortly after the couple’s discovery, a 21-year-old man was arrested in the neighbouring town of Bundoora. Kershaw added:
It’s quite a large find to take off the streets, really. That’s 800,000 hits off the street that we’ve intercepted yesterday which is quite significant.
I can’t help but feel like this is a total wasted opportunity. Surely selling it would’ve been a much better idea....or maybe that’s just me!
