Dozy cow falls asleep on lilo, gets swept 7 miles out to sea!
If there was ever a reason not to fall asleep on a lilo, this is it!!! Some poor cow who was holidaying in Crete thought she'd take a quick dip but ended up being swept 7 miles out to sea.
Olga Kuldo, was on holiday with her husband and daughter when she decided to go for a swim in the sea. She took her lilo with her and figured she'd catch some early morning rays. At some point, Olga fell asleep and slowly started drifting out to sea. There started an ordeal that would go on to last 21 hours! See, this is why I'm scared of the sea!
By the time night fell, Olga was suffering from hypothermia and extreme sunburn, as well as fearing being attacked by sharks and other deadly creatures - with passing yachts failing to notice her. Eventually, she was spotted by a plane and Olga was rescued. Here's what she had to say about her terrifying ordeal:
I went into the water, lay on my lilo and next moment the waves carried me away from the shore. In no time, I found myself in deep water where I couldn’t touch the bottom with my feet.
I am not a good swimmer, so I just grasped tight to my airbed and thought that soon I would manage to paddle my way to the shore. But instead, the current and the wind carried me further and further away… then I began to shout and wave but nobody on the shore noticed.
The waves were huge, and I did my best to hang onto my airbed. I did not sleep for second, I kept moving. I was so sure that if I put just a bit more effort, soon I would reach the shore, but in reality I was not moving at all.
It was truly horrible at night, all sorts of thoughts flashed across my mind, and the storm was outrageous. I did not look back. I tried to face away from the waves because it was horrifying.
When the waves calmed, I was tired and feared I could fall asleep. So I sang songs to the birds flying over my head as a way of staying awake. I felt things touching my legs. I kept assuring myself it was just seaweed, nothing dangerous, that there was nothing down there that could harm me.
I thought of my husband and daughter, and then about all my relatives. I thought how they would be hurt by my death. This made me keep going. I had to fight until the very end.
Damn. That really does sound like the stuff of nightmares. Still, she'll probably get herself a sweet movie deal out of it.
