French referee kicks out at Nantes player, then sends him off
Unbelievable scenes from PSG's game at Nantes in Ligue Un last night!
With PSG mounting an injury time counter-attack, the home side's Brazilian defender Diego Carlos inadvertently tripped referee Tony Chapron as they ran to keep up with the action. Chapron retaliated by kicking out at Carlos, before sending him off for good measure.
And we moan about the standard of officials in this country... Check the clip!

The official has since been suspended by the French football authorities, and something tells me he's going to have to do a lot better than the following explanation if he's to avoid big trouble. "When I collided with Diego Carlos, I felt a sharp pain in an area where I had suffered a recent injury. In a terrible reflex, I stretched out my leg to the player. This clumsy gesture was inappropriate."
OK mate.
I guess the best that can be said for all of this is that the incident took place late in the game, and probably didn't have too much bearing on the result. Still though, not cool.
