Mitchell and Webb reveal a potential return for 'Peep Show'
Peep Show stars Robert Webb and David Mitchell have just revealed that Peep Show could be making a comeback. Yipppeee.
Before you spaff your pants in excitement though, they did say that it could be 10 years before that happens. Blimey, I'll be old and grey by then! It's not all bad though as the hilarious pair will be starring in their brand new sitcom tomorrow night written by Peep Show director Simon Blackwell. The show is called Back and stars David Mitchell as a guy who is forced to take over his dads pub after he dies.
The new show is said to be similiar to Peep Show, with Robert Webb playing a bit of a loser that David Mitchell constantly argues with but I think it would be a mistake to watch it believing you'll be seeing another Peep Show. There is after all, only one Peep Show. I'm still rather excited for the new show though and will happily watch it with an open mind. Here's the trailer if you haven't already seen it:
In a recent interview with NME, the boys spoke about the possibility of Peep Show returning with David Mitchell saying:
When it ended, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and Robert and I agreed that we would be up for doing a return to those characters in 10 or more years time.
I think it would be a different show. I think we would give it a different name but I’d certainly love to work with Sam and Jesse again and I think they would be interested to write those characters again but basically at the other end of their lives when they’re 50 odd or even older.
Robert Webb said:
In its perfect form, it is over. I know that all four of us have said that we’re keeping the door on the latch for a return when Mark and Jeremy are much older and I mean seriously older otherwise it’s just a tired reboot.
So while the pair don't have any immediate plans to bring Peep Show back, I'll cling on to the fact that the door isn't closed. I'd love to see Mark and Jez as a hapless older duo. Chance will be a fine thing! Until then, catch their new show, Back tomorrow night at 10PM on Channel 4.
