In my day (I'm sounding really old now) we would just text a potential date a time and a place to meet and that would be it. We wouldn't really have this huge texting back and forth so there wasn't really much chance for it to get too awkward before the date. With the introduction of Tinder and other such apps, messaging has become a way of getting to know someone and I don't necessarily know if that's a good thing, especially when you end up in awkward situations like this:
